So much to do!  So little time!!  That's how I'm feeling these days.  Waiting anxiously for the workmen to finish so that I can get paintings hung, artwork displayed and open the doors to the High Horse.

Lots of interest in the Guido Frick workshop on November 6,7 and 8th at the gallery.  Those who are interested should get registered as soon as possible to ensure that their spot is reserved.  Guido is not only a terrific artist but a terrific teacher as well.   This is a great opportunity to learn from one of the best.

I did take some time off from all the construction and preparations for opening the gallery to go on an outing with friends last week.  We loaded up our cameras and hit the highways and byways stopping to take photos along the way.  I was in the company of two professional photographers, PS Davis and Cleveland Brown along with two other friends who just enjoyed taking pictures for inspiration and fun.  Mary Brown, Stacey Edwards and I were the amateurs.   PS (Priscilla) Davis' photography will be in the gallery.

While Mary and Stacey may not be professional photographers they both have their claims to fame.  Mary produces some of the best pottery!  Her utilitarian pots are unsurpassed for cooking soups, beans, veggies, etc.  and Stacey is a former art teacher that has given up the classroom for a studio.  She will be teaching classes at the gallery and her paintings and collages will be available at the gallery.  Stacey is so creative and we are fortunate to have her.

My sweet dog Lucky (some might find this a bit overstated) will surely miss me when the gallery opens  and I am no longer at home with him during the day .  He is my constant companion and if he had a better disposition he would surely get to be the studio dog but alas, his personality is that of a herding dog and I don't think visitors to the gallery would find this to their liking!

Several new artists listed on the website.  Check out their work and their bios.  We are very lucky to have so many extraordinary artists at the "Horse".

Lots of work going on at the High Horse!!  We are still optimistic that we will be open the first week in October.  Our contractors are all working very hard to make this happen.

The website http://www.highhorsegallery.com is on line and most of the artists that will be represented by the gallery are at least listed on the site.  I am still working to include their bios and photos of their work.  Thanks to Jerry www.arrowconcepts.com for a great job on designing the site.  It's user friendly and loads quickly--what more could you want?!

Annabel at Studio A outdid herself on the logo.  I could not be happier.  She's not only a talented artist but understands the role of the logo as it applies to marketing a business.  She was very patient with me and explained every detail of what we needed to accomplish.  I think we need to rename her business Studio A+.

The gallery will be the party venue for the season opening performance at the Ritz.  The Ritz is the crown jewel of Commerce Street here in Greenville. The Greenville Area Arts Council does a fantastic job of bringing awesome productions to the theater.   Check them out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/GreenvilleAreaArtsCouncil   The opening performance will be Greenville's our  "Wojamm and Shiron Denise" on October 10th.  This is sure to be a hit and will be well attended so get your tickets early to see this talented act.

New artists are being added to our gallery daily.  Check out our site for updates www.highhorsegallery.com

Construction Update

Slowly but surely the High Horse Gallery is becoming a reality.  Beautiful old brick walls are now free of cracking plaster and the stamped tin ceilings are being restored. It's amazing but in years past electricians and carpenters had no appreciation for the beauty of the tin ceilings and would simply knock a hole the size of a crater in the tin to bring through wiring, etc.

The new roof has made the building waterproof to protect the interior from any more rainwater damage.  The framing for the office and restrooms is complete.  The contractor that does the drywall is on standby and promises that he will not keep me waiting.  As soon as the electrical and plumbing is finished we will be home free!   I am still optimistic that we will open in October!

The website is online as of last Saturday.  I have posted some beautiful art work from the artists that will be in the Gallery.  Be sure to take a look at their work.  So much more to come as new artists are coming on board every day.  We will have a wide variety of works.   I can assure you that there will be something for every one's taste and budget.

We are getting a lot of interest in the classes we will be offering.  The most popular requests are for painting classes.  The Gallery is very fortunate to have two local art teachers for these classes, Elizabeth Reid and former high school art teacher Stacey Edwards.  Rosie Floyd of RF Pottery will teach pottery.  Plans for jewelry making, calligraphy, scratch board painting and photography are just a few of the suggestions that we have had for additional classes.

I have had so much encouragement from the local people as well as the artists that have signed on with the High Horse.   I can't wait to start this new adventure.  Remember to "Place your bets on the Horse"
